Every few weeks I have a customer come in with an egg on their car. Either it fell out of a nest or you have teenagers living in your neighborhood, either way you need to act quickly or your vehicle’s paint will be ruined. Here are some tips for removing eggs from a car.

1. Act Quickly:

The sooner you can remove the egg, the easier it will be. If you notice the egg while it's still fresh, you can use a gentle stream of water to rinse it off.

2. Soften the Egg:

If the egg has dried, try soaking it with a cloth soaked in warm, soapy water. Let the cloth sit on the egg for several minutes to soften it before attempting to remove it. Do not let the towel with the soapy water dry on the vehicle.

3. Use Gentle Cleaners:

Use a car-safe soap and a microfiber cloth to gently clean the area. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

4.Rinse Thoroughly:

After removing the egg, rinse the area thoroughly with water to ensure all residues are gone.

5. Protect the Paint:

All too frequently I get asked a question “Can you get this mark off my hood?” Usually it’s the oddly shaped circle that was the mark left from a bird dropping. Many times I ask the customer how long was the dropping on there and I get the answer “Not long, I got it off right away, it wasn’t even on there for a week!” Removing bird poop from your car promptly is crucial because bird droppings are highly acidic due to uric acid, which can eat into your car's paint and clear coat, causing permanent damage. If left too long, the droppings can harden and bond with the paint, leading to etching—where the acid creates a dull spot or visible mark that requires professional detailing to remove. Additionally, if the droppings penetrate the clear coat and reach the metal body, they can cause rust and corrosion, compromising the structural integrity of your vehicle. Beyond the physical damage, bird poop is unsightly and detracts from your car's appearance, making it look dirty and poorly maintained. Regular cleaning is essential to maintain the aesthetic appeal and resale value of your car, as potential buyers are less likely to purchase a vehicle with visible paint damage or corrosion. What Will It Cost to Detail My Vehicle?

One of the most common questions I receive is, "How much will it cost to detail my SUV (car, truck, etc.)?"

Everyone’s vehicle and status of cleanliness is unique, making it challenging to estimate the cost over the phone. My usual response is, "Bring your car in so we can take a look, because it's hard to see what you need over the phone." Most people understand this and know there might be extra charges, but nobody likes surprises when it comes to price. In this post, I’m going to explain how we price a detail service.

 Determining Vehicle Type

Before pricing, we need to identify the type of vehicle:

- Coup: Two-door, two-seater sports car

- Sedan: Two or four-door car seating four to five people

- Small SUV: Smaller than a Jeep Cherokee

- Regular SUV: Similar size to a Jeep Cherokee

- Large SUV: Larger than a Jeep Cherokee or with three rows

- Monster Truck: Lifted vehicles with large aftermarket rims and tires, requiring a ladder to reach the roof

The size of the vehicle directly affects the cost. For example, if the service starts at $60 for a standard sedan, a large three-row SUV would start at $75.

 Assessing Interior and Exterior Issues

Next, we note any obvious interior issues:

- Pet hair

- Excessive sand

- Stained fabrics or panels

- Vomit, feces, or blood

We also look for exterior issues:

- Bugs

- Paint transfer
